How It Works
The ACTS40 continuously monitors two AC power sources and automatically transfers supply to ensure uninterrupted operation. Designed for a variety of systems including industrial and residential off-grid, it intelligently manages power changeover without user intervention.

The ACTS40 is a reliable automatic transfer switch that safely transfers your electrical load between two AC power inputs

In a standard Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) system the Mains Grid is setup as the Primary power source and the battery powered stand alone inverter as the Secondary power source. In the event of a Primary source power failure or outage (e.g. natural disaster), the transfer switch would instantly swap the power input to the Secondary source allowing you to continue to function uninterrupted. Once the grid power is restored, the ACTS40 will automatically switch back to the Primary source.

In an off-grid system an AC generator (generally switched off) is wired into the Primary input of the ACTS40 whilst a battery powered stand alone inverter is wired into the Secondary input of the unit to run the power most of the time. When the solar charge controller determines that the battery voltage is getting low it can send a signal to start your generator. As soon as the voltage of the generator is within stable limits, the ACTS40 will switch over and use that Primary power source while your off grid inverter goes into standby sleep mode. Once the generator switches off and the batteries are recharged, the ACTS40 will switch back to the inverter supply on the Secondary input.

The ACTS40 is rated for 180-280 VAC, whilst the ACTS40-V is rated for 90-140 VAC. Both versions of the unit can handle up to 40A. The ACTS40 is suitable for most residential and industrial applications.
